Indre Viskontas

Associate Professor at University of San Francisco

Indre Viskontas is an accomplished Associate Professor at the University of San Francisco since August 2021 and serves as the Director of Communications for Sound Health Network since January 2021. As the Creative Director of Pasadena Opera since December 2013, Viskontas also hosts, creates, and writes for the Cadence Podcast, and has been the host of the Inquiring Minds podcast since June 2013. Viskontas is a Professor at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, focusing on the neuroscience of learning in professional musicians, and maintains a career as a professional singer since April 2006. Previous roles include hosting the popular science podcast Point of Inquiry and the docuseries Miracle Detectives. Viskontas' research experience as a Hellman Fellow at UCSF involved studying creativity in dementia patients and lecturing on memory. Viskontas holds a PhD in Cognitive Neuroscience from UCLA, a Master's in Vocal Performance from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, and a Bachelor's in Psychology from the University of Toronto.
