Eleanor Paynter is currently an Assistant Professor of Italian, Global Media, and Migration at the University of Oregon since September 2024. With extensive experience as a freelance editor since June 2004, Eleanor specializes in scientific and academic papers authored by non-native English speakers. Previous roles include Mellon Postdoctoral Research Associate at Brown University, Fellow at the American Council of Learned Societies, Postdoctoral Associate in Migrations at Cornell University, and an extensive teaching background at The Ohio State University, Leiden University Medical Center, and other institutions. Eleanor holds a PhD in Comparative Studies from The Ohio State University, an MFA in Writing from Sarah Lawrence College, and a BA in Literature from Agnes Scott College. Notable teaching areas encompass cultural studies, migration, and literature, alongside experience editing for Versal Journal and managing courses in academic communication for medical students.
