Matt Merten currently serves as the Assistant Band Director at the University of Notre Dame, a position held since 2005, where responsibilities include overseeing Marching Band, Concert Bands, Jazz Ensembles, Athletic Bands, Chamber Ensembles, and providing private lessons, while also focusing on recruitment, social media, alumni relations, and community service. Prior experience includes serving as Band Director at Albany Area Schools (2002-2003) and St. Cloud Area School District (2001-2002). Matt Merten earned a Master of Music in Trombone Performance and Literature from the University of Notre Dame (2003-2005) and a Bachelor of Arts in Music Education and Trombone Performance from Saint John's University (1997-2001).
