Shaanan Cohney currently serves as the Interim Deputy Head of School (Academic) at the University of Melbourne's School of Computing and Information Systems since January 2021. Previous roles include Senior Lecturer and Lecturer at Harvard University for the CS50x for Teachers program and various research positions at University of Pennsylvania Carey Law School and Princeton University. Cohney has extensive teaching experience, having served as a Head Teaching Assistant at the University of Pennsylvania and taught several courses in computer security, operating systems, and technology policy. Educational qualifications include a Ph.D. in Computer and Information Security from the University of Pennsylvania, alongside multiple degrees in law, computer science, and music.
