Professor Lou Harms was elected to Council commencing 1 October 2022. She is the Chair and Head of Social Work, and Deputy Head of the School of Health Sciences, at the University of Melbourneā€™s Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry and Health Sciences. She is a Member of the Australian Association of Social Workers.

Louā€™s research and teaching focuses on human experiences of and adaptation to trauma, grief and loss. She has particular interests in resilience and strengths-based approaches in understanding individual, family and community recovery in health, disability, and post-disaster contexts.
