Professor Julia Balogun was appointed Dean of the University of Liverpool’s Management School in 2015 and is also holder of the Brett Chair in Management. Prior to assuming her role at ULMS, Professor Balogun was Associate Dean Research and Professor of Strategic Management at the University Of Bath School Of Management. Previously, she served as Associate Dean Postgraduate and Director of the Graduate Management School at Lancaster University Management School, where she also held the Professor Sir Roland Smith Chair in Strategic Management and the Directorship of the Centre for Strategic Management. Following a career as a consultant, she started her academic life at Cranfield School of Management as an ESRC teaching fellow, from where she obtained her PhD. She subsequently spent time at Cass Business School, where she was first promoted to a personal Chair in Strategic Management in 2005. She has research expertise in processes of strategy development and strategic change, and has published in top-ranked international journals, such as the Academy of Management Journal, Organization Science, Journal of International Business, Journal of Management Studies and Organisation Studies. Her book, Exploring Strategic Change, first published in 1998, is now in its fourth edition.
