Antje Schmidt

Lecturer Digital Museum Practice at University of Hamburg

Dr. Antje Schmidt serves as the Head of Digital Strategy and Head of Digital Cataloguing and Collection Online at the Museum für Kunst und Gewerbe Hamburg since November 2012, specializing in the digitisation of cultural heritage, digital strategy, collection information management, rights management, open licensing, and linked open data. Additionally, Dr. Schmidt has held the position of Lecturer in Digital Museum Practice at Universität Hamburg since April 2017 and serves as a Councillor for the Europeana Network Association, involving participation in the Advisory Board for Europeana Collections, a Task Force focused on Impact Assessment, and the Copyright Working Group. Prior experience includes roles such as Scientific Documentation at Stiftung Historische Museen Hamburg, Curator at Altonaer Museum für Kunst und Kulturgeschichte Hamburg, and Curatorial Assistant positions at both the Museum für Hamburgische Geschichte and Altonaer Museum für Kunst und Kulturgeschichte Hamburg. Dr. Schmidt holds a doctoral degree in Art History from the University of Hamburg, with additional studies at Sapienza Università di Roma and The University of Göttingen.
