Kevin Freedman, Ph.D., serves as an Assistant Professor at the University of California, Riverside, since July 2017 and as a Senior Fellow at the Lawrence Berkeley National Lab (Joint Genome Institute) and Global Viral since August 2015. With a robust academic background, Kevin completed a Postdoctoral Fellowship at Imperial College London from October 2013 to August 2015 and obtained a Ph.D. in Chemical and Biological Engineering from Drexel University, where Kevin also received a Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Engineering. Kevin's research expertise includes single molecule diagnostics and protein biophysics using solid-state nanopores, as well as nanofabrication and mathematical modeling. Notable contributions also include developing low-cost phototherapy devices for under-developed countries and working on seizure detection algorithms during graduate studies. Kevin's extensive experience encompasses collaborative roles at prestigious institutions including the University of Pennsylvania and Uppsala University, alongside industry experience at Merck and Arkema.
