Steve Larter is a Professor of Geosciences at the University of Calgary, with a career spanning numerous leadership roles in carbon management and research innovation. Larter served as the founding Scientific Director of Carbon Management Canada from 2009 to 2017, where significant advancements in carbon capture technology occurred. Additionally, Larter co-founded mentorship programs designed to aid researchers in transitioning their work into practical applications. Larter has held numerous prestigious positions, including Associate Vice President of Research and Innovation and Canada Research Chair in Petroleum Geology. Larter's academic credentials include a Bachelor's Degree in Natural Sciences from the University of Cambridge and a Ph.D. in Geochemistry from Newcastle University. Larter is a Fellow of multiple esteemed organizations, including The Royal Society and The Royal Society of Canada, and co-founded LysisLogic Scientific Inc., focusing on carbon management and energy transition.
