Christopher S. Brown is the Vice President for Research at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, with over 26 years of experience in research, teaching, and program management. Currently, they serve as a Professor of Plant Biology and Director of the NASA/NC Space Grant at North Carolina State University. Brown has held various leadership roles at state, national, and international levels, significantly contributing to research funding and collaboration. They have secured over $22 million in grants and contracts, resulting in more than 70 refereed publications, and have worked on pioneering projects in space biology.
