Yakubu Abdul-Salam currently serves as the Director of Online at the University of Aberdeen's Business School, having held multiple roles including Senior Lecturer in Energy Economics and Programme Director for MSc Energy Economics and Finance. In addition, Yakubu convenes the Aberdeen Centre for Research in Energy Economics and Finance and teaches courses such as Petroleum and Energy Economics. Yakubu also has a position as an Associate Member at the Centre for Energy Economics Research and Policy at Heriot-Watt University and an Honorary Research Fellow at The James Hutton Institute. Previous experience includes roles at The James Hutton Institute, Udny Community Wind Turbine Company Ltd., Tema Oil Refinery, and the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation. Yakubu holds a PhD in Economics with a focus on Energy from the University of Aberdeen, alongside an MSc in Energy and Petroleum Economics and a BSc in Chemical Engineering from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology.
