Amal Rahmeh is a Senior Research Scientist at Universitat Pompeu Fabra since February 2020, focusing on precise gene editing and targeted gene delivery technologies, as well as oncolytic viruses to complement immunotherapy. Additionally, Amal serves as a Scientific Consultant for Oncorus since May 2020 and previously held the position of Principal Scientist at the same company from January 2019 to October 2019, where the development of next-generation oncolytic viruses was a primary responsibility. Amal's academic experience includes roles as an Assistant Professor at the American University of Beirut and an Instructor at Harvard Medical School, with an emphasis on biochemical and structural studies of viral protein functions. Amal's research background encompasses small molecule development targeting enveloped virus entry and postdoctoral research in the biochemical and structural studies of negative-sense RNA virus replication and transcription. Educational qualifications include a Ph.D. in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from New York Medical College and a Master's degree in Biochemistry from the American University of Beirut.
