Unity House of Cayuga County, Inc. provides transitional and permanent housing, respite care, and rehabilitative and employment services for individuals with mental illnesses, developmental/intellectual disabilities, and/or chemical dependencies from which they are recovering. A nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization founded in 1977, Unity House partners with these individuals to develop their personal skills and potential, enabling them to live more full and independent lives. 

The agency is committed to providing consumer-centered and consumer-driven services, programs, and supports, serving more than 700 consumers a day in six central New York counties (Cayuga, Tompkins, Wayne, Onondaga, Seneca, and Ontario). Unity House also seeks to free our communities of misconceptions associated with disabilities through innovation, education, and advocacy. 

Unity House’s headquarters are located in Auburn, New York. The agency employs more than 300 people and is licensed by the New York State Office of People With Developmental Disabilities (OPWDD), The New York State Office of Mental Health (OMH), the New York State Department of Health (DOH), and the New York State Office of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Services (OASAS).

The Mental Health and Direct Care team at Unity House works collaboratively to provide comprehensive support and services to individuals with mental illnesses, developmental disabilities, and chemical dependencies. The team includes professionals such as psychologists, direct care workers, assistant program directors, employment specialists, and peer specialists. They offer personalized care plans, facilitate therapeutic interventions, support community integration, assist with employment opportunities, and champion peer-to-peer support, all aimed at fostering independence and enhancing quality of life for their consumers.

The Program Management team at Unity House oversees the planning, execution, and evaluation of various support and rehabilitative programs aimed at empowering individuals with mental illnesses, developmental/intellectual disabilities, and chemical dependencies. This team ensures that all services are delivered in an inclusive, person-centered manner, aligning with the organization's mission and values. Additionally, they collaborate with other departments to drive innovation, education, and advocacy efforts to reduce misconceptions associated with disabilities within the community.
