Melissa grew up in Orlando, FL., but is native to Myrtle Beach, SC and remembers spending a lot of her childhood on, in or near the water with family, friends or in the sport of competitive rowing. In 2007, before even graduating high school she joined the US Army. Much of her time on active duty was spent as a Paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne Division, jumping out of airplanes, training as the 2nd Brigade Combat Team’s Preventive Medicine Technician, and her Company’s Unit Armorer. Melissa, along with her unit, was awarded the Humanitarian Service Medal for their contribution in Port Au Prince, Haiti assisting the Joint Task Force during Operation Unified Response following the devastating earthquake in 2010. She was promoted to Sergeant during her deployment to Afghanistan in 2013 and ultimately left the military in 2015 to experience new horizons.
Following her separation from the military Melissa decided to pursue an Associate in Arts for General Education at Valencia College and attained her Cosmetology license from Paul Mitchell. Upon completion of her license, she enjoyed hosting and entertaining her clients behind the chair at a Salon in Winter Park, FL. She began living in Port St. Lucie after meeting her significant other in 2017 but continued to commute to Orlando to tend to her clientele. Finally in 2019 she decided to permanently live and work in Stuart, FL after finding the position as Sales Analyst for a local Wholesale Fish Company.
On March 8th, 2021, Melissa began working for United Yacht Sales assisting the Closing Department. Her responsibilities include communicating with our many sales brokers on their respective deposits’ arrival for new deals, gathering information for contracted deals to set-up for the closing process, post-closing files, documenting vessels, supporting Accounts Payable/Accounts Receivable, helping with Sales Tax reporting and anything else she can be of assistance with.
Melissa brings her experience in sales, structure, and risk management to UYS – she has a knack for accuracy, attention to detail and problem solving from her experience in disaster recovery and occupational health.
Melissa lives in Port Saint Lucie with her boyfriend, Chef Aaron Chase, his daughter Olivia, Melissa’s father Mike, and their pup Brownie. As a family they are foodies and enjoy fishing whenever possible.
