Margaret Macdonald began their career in 1996 as a Partner at Howrey LLP. Margaret worked there until 2011 when they transitioned to become a Partner at Perkins Coie LLP. In 2013, Margaret joined the U.S. International Trade Commission as the Director of their Office of Unfair Import Investigations.

Margaret Macdonald obtained their Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from Trinity College-Hartford in the years 1987 to 1991. Margaret further pursued their education at the American University Washington College of Law from 1991 to 1994, where they earned a joint Juris Doctor and Master of Arts degree. Their field of study during this period focused on Law, particularly International Law and Organizations.
