Theresa Mai began their work experience in 2013 as an Undergraduate Research Intern at the Equal Justice Society (EJS). Theresa then transitioned to the University of California, Berkeley, where they worked as a Research Assistant and Undergraduate Student Instructor from August 2013 to May 2014. In 2014, Theresa joined Uniquify Inc as an Executive Assistant to the Chief Executive Officer. Theresa later held the position of Operations Manager from May 2015 to December 2015, where they focused on supply chain management and various aspects of production control. In 2016, Theresa became the Director of Finance and Operations at Uniquify Inc.

Theresa Mai obtained their Bachelor of Arts degree in Legal Studies and Political Science from the University of California, Berkeley. Theresa attended the university from 2009 to 2013.
