Juan Declet-Barreto, PhD, is an interdisciplinary geographer focused on the impacts of climate change on vulnerable populations, with expertise in social and environmental geospatial analysis. They earned a Bachelor of Science in Geography, a Master of Arts in Geography, and a PhD in Environmental Social Science from Arizona State University. Juan has developed a research program centered on the vulnerability of human health outcomes related to environmental hazards and has undertaken significant work on climate vulnerability, mortality, and urban heat islands. Currently, they serve as a Senior Social Scientist for Climate Vulnerability at the Union of Concerned Scientists, where they develop and communicate social science research to inform climate policy.
