Mary Maker serves as a Goodwill Ambassador and High Profile Supporter for UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency, since June 2018, advocating for refugees on a global platform through interviews with major media outlets and leading TED talks. As a co-founder of Elimisha Kakuma since April 2021, Mary Maker facilitates access to higher education for high school graduates in the Kakuma Refugee Camp in Kenya. Additional experience includes roles as a Resident Assistant at St. Olaf College and as a Student Intern with the Center for Leadership & Neighborhood Engagement, focusing on community engagement post-racial unrest in Minneapolis. Prior positions include serving as an S4D Coach at GIZ, a Peer Counselor with AAR Japan, and a School Secretary and Teacher with Windle Trust International. Mary Maker holds multiple Bachelor of Arts degrees in Theatre, Race and Ethnic Studies, and International Relations from St. Olaf College.
