Daniel O'Doherty serves as a Senior Advisory Council member at Heirloom Cacao Preservation Fund since June 2022, advising on genetic roles in designation and overseeing application processes. As VP of Operations at Maui Ku'ia Estate Chocolate since January 2018, Daniel manages a vertically integrated cacao farm and chocolate factory. Daniel is also the Owner and Principal Consultant at Cacao Services, Inc. and provides advisory services to Uncommon Cacao. Co-founding and presiding over the Hawaii Cacao Foundation since January 2014, Daniel supports the specialty cacao and chocolate industry in Hawaii. Additionally, Daniel contributes as a Scientific Advisor and Conference Coordinator for the Hawaii Chocolate and Cacao Association and previously worked as an Assistant Researcher at the University of Hawaii at Manoa, where responsibilities included initiating and managing a statewide cacao variety trial. Academic qualifications include a Master’s Degree in Botany/Plant Biology from the University of Hawaii at Manoa and a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from Stevenson University.
