Rig Patel has extensive experience in the field of medicine, particularly in gastroenterology, with a prominent role at UNC REX Healthcare since 2006, where responsibilities include serving as a Board of Trustees member, Medical Director and Chairman of the UNC Rex Digestive Healthcare, and Director of the Endoscopic Ultrasound Program. Patel is also active in governance roles within UNC Physicians Network and held various leadership positions within UNC Health from 2014 to 2022. Additionally, Patel has contributed to academic medicine as an Adjunct Professor at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill since 2012, and has been involved in various organizations, including serving as President of the North Carolina Society of Gastroenterology and a consultant for Avesha. Educational qualifications include an MB BS degree from the University of London and specialized training in advanced therapeutic endoscopy from the University of Iowa.
