Tom Bush is an experienced orthopedic nurse practitioner currently working at EmergeOrtho, P.A. in the Triangle Region since January 2022. Prior to this role, Tom served as an Associate Professor in the School of Medicine Department of Orthopedic Surgery at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill from 2000 to 2021, directing the Ortho Advanced Practice Provider Fellowship and contributing to HRSA-funded grants on behavioral health integration. Tom's clinical background includes primary care as a nurse practitioner in the Department of Family Medicine and work in a newly developed inpatient rehabilitation unit in the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. Additionally, Tom has experience as a nurse practitioner in an interdisciplinary team evaluation for children with disabilities at the North Carolina Department of Health and as a registered nurse in the Surgical ICU at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. Tom holds a Doctor of Nursing Practice from East Carolina University, a Master of Science in Nursing from Vanderbilt University, and an Associate’s Degree in Nursing from the University of Kentucky.
