Dr. Frank Papa serves as a medical faculty member with research interest in a learning sciences-based approach to educating current medical students. His research endeavors began in 1979, and have continued on into integration of programming and math skills, that will provide a computer-based model of understanding how to diagnose patients. This computer-based model for diagnostic reasoning led to the construction of an artificial intelligence tool called KBIT. He has received numerous awards and published educational research from groups such as the AAMC, AACOM, Decision Sciences Institute, and ACEP. He has received funding from organizations including the United Stated Department of Education and NBOME. He earned his DO from Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine and later received a PhD in Higher Education/Computer-Based Education and Cognitive Systems from UNT.
