Paul Knapp is an accomplished engineering professional with a solid background in electrical engineering and extensive experience in management and technical leadership. Currently serving as Principal Engineering Manager and Principal Engineer at UL Solutions since January 2017, Paul has previously held key roles such as IEEE Young Professionals Chair for IEEE Charlotte and Senior Technical Leader for the Electric Power Research Institute, where responsibilities included leading research in underground transmission. Earlier positions include High Voltage Test Manager at ABB, managing routine testing operations, and Engineer at Advanced Testing Systems, where project testing for significant capital projects was developed. Paul began their career as an Electrical Engineer at Haefely Hipotronics, focusing on high voltage equipment design and installation. Paul earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering Technology from SUNY Polytechnic Institute and an Associate Degree in Electrical Construction and Maintenance Technology from Hudson Valley Community College.
