Simon Courtney is an IT Infrastructure & Systems Manager at the UK Centre for Ecology & Hydrology (UKCEH) since March 2021, overseeing the management of networks, firewalls, infrastructure servers, virtualisation systems, and extensive storage solutions. Prior to this role, Simon served as Computer Support Manager at the Centre for Ecology and Hydrology (CEH) from July 1989 to March 2021, where expertise developed included Linux distributions, Windows server management, and data backup solutions. Simon has a history of pioneering projects, such as initiating a Linux cluster to enhance scientific modeling capabilities. Early career experiences included managing a DEC VAX mini computer and embracing PC server architecture during the onset of the PC era. Education was attained at the University of Sunderland.
