Stefanos Grammatikos has extensive work experience in the biopharmaceutical industry. Stefanos has held various leadership roles at UCB Pharma SA, including Vice President and Head of Biotech Sciences, where they managed a team of over 350 people and oversaw drug substance process, formulation, drug product process, and analytical development for the production of recombinant protein therapeutics. Prior to that, they served as Senior Director of Biological Process Development at UCB, contributing to the building of CMC/Bioprocess Development capacities and expertise.
Before joining UCB, Stefanos worked at Boehringer Ingelheim Pharma, where they held roles such as Director of Biopharma Upstream Development and Director of Biopharma Upstream Manufacturing. In these roles, they led the development of expression systems, cell lines, and processes for the production of recombinant protein therapeutics from mammalian cell cultures. Stefanos also managed the staffing, qualification, and start-up of a new cell culture manufacturing facility.
Stefanos began their career as a Post-Doctoral Researcher at GBF-German National Institute for Biotechnology Research. Stefanos holds extensive experience in the field of cell culture technology and has made significant contributions to the biopharmaceutical industry.
Stefanos Grammatikos earned a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of California, Berkeley, from 1985 to 1989. Stefanos continued their education at Northwestern University, where they obtained a PhD in Chemical Engineering from 1989 to 1994.
