Swupnil Sahai is the Co-Founder and CEO of SwingVision, an innovative company that automates sports statistics and officiating through iPhones, which received the 2023 Apple Design Award and was featured in the 2021 iPhone and iPad Keynotes. As a Lecturer at the University of California, Berkeley, Sahai teaches Data 8: Foundations of Data Science to over 2,000 students from various majors. Previous experience includes serving as a Senior Computer Vision Engineer at Tesla, where Sahai developed patented deep learning algorithms for 3D object tracking and enhanced vehicle safety systems. Early career roles at Tesla involved internships in computer vision and data science, while an internship at Apple focused on automating financial reporting. Sahai holds a Ph.D. in Statistics from Columbia University and a B.A. with honors in Economics, Applied Mathematics, and Statistics from the University of California, Berkeley. High school education includes graduating with Highest Honors from Saratoga High School.
