Mik Cox has a diverse work experience history. They started their career in 2011 as a Software Design & Development intern at SkyRun Vacation Rentals. In 2013, they worked as a Software Intern at NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory, where they automated report generation using Python and JIRA.

In 2012, Mik transitioned to the University of Colorado Boulder, where they became the LASP Extended Metadata Repository Project Lead. They expanded the VIVO semantic web application to hold metadata about the laboratory.

From 2015 to 2020, Mik returned to NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory as a Data Scientist and Head of Internet of Things. They led the Internet of Things team and played a crucial role in the development of JPL's "Smart Campus" initiative, integrating IoT and smart home technologies into the JPL campus.
