Karim Mattar is an accomplished engineering leader with extensive experience in technology and education. Currently serving as the Director of Engineering and Head of Capacity & Efficiency Engineering at Uber since April 2019, Karim has successfully rebranded and expanded the Performance & Capacity Engineering organization. Previous roles at Uber include Senior Engineering Manager, where the focus was on platform and service efficiency, and management of a diverse engineering organization. Karim has also held leadership positions at Meta, Akamai Technologies, and Sprint, where expertise in performance engineering and software development was demonstrated. Academic contributions include a Doctor of Philosophy and Master of Arts in Computer Science from Boston University, and a Bachelor of Science in Computer Systems Engineering from the University of Massachusetts Amherst. Additionally, Karim extended coaching expertise as a Squash Pro, working with individuals across various skill levels.
