Karen Dubowy-Karpouzas MD is an experienced physician currently serving as a Nocturnist at the Department of Veterans Affairs since July 2011 and as a Physician with the Long Beach Medical Reserve Corp since 2009. Previously, Karen was a partner physician at The Permanente Medical Group for ten years, transitioning to a per diem role until August 2014, and completed an internship and residency in Internal Medicine at Los Angeles County-USC between 1997 and 2000. Early professional work included research in hematology, tumor marker development, and neuro-oncology at MD Anderson Cancer Center from 1986 to 1993. Educational qualifications include a B.A. in Ethics from Rice University, an M.D. from The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston, and further studies at American Military University.
