Nicole Leon-Elvir

Law Clerk - Criminal Division at Department of Justice

Nicole Leon-Elvir is a law student at the University of California, Berkeley, anticipated to complete a Doctor of Law degree in May 2025. Currently serving as a Student Advocate for the Post-Conviction Advocacy Project at UnCommon Law, Nicole assists clients serving indeterminate life sentences in California. Previous experience includes roles as a Student Advocate for the East Bay Dreamers Project, a Practicum Student in the Veterans Law Practicum, and a Summer Law Clerk at Willkie Farr & Gallagher LLP. With a strong background in family law and immigration law through positions held as a Family Law Paralegal and at Torres Law Firm, Nicole also has experience in housing advocacy as a Paralegal at Legal Aid Services of Oklahoma. In addition to legal work, Nicole has a background in real estate as a Bilingual Realtor®. Nicole's academic accomplishments include participation as a Mellon Mays Undergraduate Research Fellow at Columbia University, where research focused on post-colonial theory and Latinx theatre. Nicole holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Drama & Theatre Arts from Columbia University, completed in May 2020.
