Mary Alex Smith is an Investment Principal at the U.S. Department of Commerce, working with the CHIPS Investment Office to strengthen and revitalize the U.S economy. Prior to this, Mary Alex gained experience as an Investor at Canapi Ventures and as an Investment Banking Associate at J.P. Morgan, focusing on Debt Capital Markets. Mary also has a background in Corporate Banking, having interned at BB&T. Mary Alex holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and Spanish from Vanderbilt University with a minor in Financial Economics.
