Prasanna Gowda currently serves as the Associate Area Director at the USDA-ARS Southeast Area, a position held since September 2019. Prior roles include Research Leader for the Forage and Livestock Production Research Unit at the USDA-ARS Grazinglands Research Laboratory from July 2015 to August 2019 and Agricultural Engineer at the USDA-ARS Conservation and Production Research Laboratory from January 2005 to June 2015. Earlier career experience includes serving as a Senior Research Associate at the University of Minnesota's Department of Soil, Water and Climate and as an Associate Researcher with the United States Geological Survey. Prasanna Gowda holds an MBA in Strategic Management and a minor in Entrepreneurship from the University of Minnesota, a Ph.D. in Soil and Water from The Ohio State University, a Master's degree in City and Regional Planning from the University of Mysore, and a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from B. M. S. College of Engineering. Additionally, Prasanna Gowda is currently pursuing a Key Executive Leadership Program certificate at American University.
