David Olson is an experienced professional with a strong background in economics and policy analysis. Currently serving as Deputy Director in the AMS Transportation Economics Division at the USDA since December 2023, David previously held the role of Economist-Policy Analyst at the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission from February 2022 to November 2023. David has also worked as a consultant at IHS Markit in 2021, and served as an Army Officer in the US Army from May 2012 to April 2021, with deployment experience in Afghanistan. Additionally, David founded Hourly Kapital in 2020, aimed at enhancing productivity and employee satisfaction through innovative labor market practices. Earlier experience includes roles as an economist at the USDA and a graduate student at Michigan State University, where David contributed to various research and teaching initiatives. Academic credentials include a Master's in Agricultural, Food, and Resource Economics from Michigan State University and a Bachelor of Arts in Business Economics from Wheaton College.
