Alberto Hernandez II is an accomplished leader with extensive experience in maritime operations and management. Currently serving as the Director for the U.S. Coast Guard since July 2005, Alberto leads a team of civilian veterans and active duty Operations Specialists to enhance safety and efficiency in the Ports of Houston, Galveston, Texas City, and the Gulf Intra-coastal Waterway. Previous experience includes a role as Lieutenant Commander in the U.S. Navy from August 1995 to June 2009, focusing on naval group operations and military sealift planning. Alberto also has a background in food manufacturing as a Plant Leader at HEB Grocery Company, overseeing a 120,000 square foot automated baking facility. Educational credentials include a BS in General Engineering from the United States Naval Academy, an MEng in Cybersecurity Policy and Planning from The George Washington University, a Cyber Security Certificate from Harvard University, and continuing education in Information Systems from Hawaii Pacific University.
