Walter T. de Vries is a distinguished academic and researcher in land management and land administration, currently serving as Professor and Chair of the Land Management group at Technical University Munich since 2015. Prior to this position, Walter T. de Vries was an Assistant Professor at the University of Twente, where responsibilities included course coordination in land administration and conducting research in land information governance. Earlier career experiences include lecturing and research at ITC, with a focus on governance and geospatial information infrastructures, and project management at the National University of Rwanda and the Polytechnic of Namibia. Walter T. de Vries holds a PhD in social sciences from Erasmus University Rotterdam and a Master’s degree in Geodesy from Delft University of Technology, complemented by diverse international experience across multiple countries including Indonesia, Namibia, and Rwanda.
