Benjamin Büttner has a diverse work experience that spans from 2005 to 2020. Benjamin has experience in various roles and organizations, including their current role as Co-Editor-in-Chief of the "Journal of Urban Mobility" at Elsevier. Benjamin has also held positions such as Head of the "Doctoral Training Network" at EIT Urban Mobility, Co-Chair of the NECTAR Accessibility Cluster at NECTAR, and Head of the Research Group "Accessibility Planning" at Technische Universität München. Prior to that, they had internships at BMW, Department of Urban Planning and Building Regulation (City of Munich), Siemens, and Siemens China.

Benjamin Büttner completed their Diploma in Geography from Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München in the years 2004 to 2009. Benjamin then pursued their further education and obtained a Doctor of Engineering (PhD) degree in Ingenieurwissenschaften from Technical University of Munich between the years 2012 and 2016. In addition, they also obtained a certification in Geographie from LMU - Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München.
