Zhonghua Zhu

Associate Director, Vector Development & Cellular Engineering at TScan Therapeutics

Zhonghua Zhu has a diverse work experience spanning several companies. Starting at Nanjing Normal University as a Graduate Research Assistant, they focused on studying signaling pathways in cardiovascular diseases. During this time, they received recognition as an honored graduate student and won a presentation award. Zhonghua then pursued a PhD in Neurobiology at New York University, where they focused on understanding how the brain learns from experience and the cellular changes that occur in response to neuronal activity. After completing their PhD, Zhu joined Biogen as a Postdoctoral Scientist, later advancing to Scientist and then Senior Scientist. In these roles, they led the Genome Editing group, managing four direct reports and delivering iPSC genome engineering projects. Zhonghua received the prestigious Biogen CEO Top Talent Award. Zhu's most recent position is at TScan Therapeutics, where they started as the Head of Vector Development and Cell Engineering and is currently serving as the Associate Director of Vector Development & Cellular Engineering.

Zhonghua Zhu has an extensive education history. In 2003, they started their undergraduate studies at Nanjing Normal University, specializing in Biology. Zhonghua successfully completed their Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Biology in 2007.

Following their undergraduate education, Zhonghua Zhu pursued a Master of Science (M.S.) degree in Developmental Biology at Nanjing Normal University from 2008 to 2011. During this period, they gained advanced knowledge and expertise in their field of study.

In 2011, Zhonghua Zhu began their doctoral studies at New York University, specializing in Neurobiology. Zhonghua dedicated seven years to their research, completing their Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree in Neurobiology in 2018.

In addition to their formal education, Zhonghua Zhu has also acquired several certifications to enhance their professional profile. In October 2017, they obtained the Project Management Professional (PMP)® certification from the Project Management Institute. Furthermore, in 2021, they acquired certifications in Developing Your Emotional Intelligence, Leading with Emotional Intelligence, and Collaboration Principles and Process from LinkedIn. Most recently, in January 2022, they became an Associate Alum of The Partnership, Inc.
