Sriram Akurati has a diverse work experience, starting in 2005 with Infosys as a Software Engineer. Sriram then worked as an Intern Field Engineer at Schlumberger in 2008. From 2010 to 2014, they held multiple roles at Cenzic, including Security Engineer (Services) where they conducted penetration testing and web application security assessments. Sriram also worked as a Security Engineer (Engineering), responsible for development and maintenance of the in-house security tool Cenzic Hailstorm.
In 2014, Trustwave acquired Cenzic, and Sriram continued working with Trustwave as a Security Researcher at SpiderLabs. Sriram actively participated in the development of a new cloud-based dynamic application security testing (DAST) tool for the Trustwave fusion portal. Sriram was also responsible for the vulnerability detection module written in Python. In 2018, they became the Team Lead for Application Security Research at SpiderLabs, responsible for architecture, delivery, and design of the vulnerability detection module. From 2020 onwards, Sriram worked as the Lead Security Researcher at SpiderLabs, leading the research division of ModSecurity, an open-source web application firewall (WAF). Sriram was responsible for the delivery of WAF commercial rules, bad IP tables, and other threat information to commercial customers.
Currently, Sriram works at Rocket Lawyer as a Product Security Engineer, starting from 2022.
Sriram Akurati completed their Master of Science (M.S.) degree in Computer Science from California State University-Sacramento between 2007 and 2009. Prior to that, they obtained their Bachelors degree in Computer Science from Vasavi College of Engineering between 2001 and 2005. Sriram'seducation journey began at the International Indian School in 1992, where there is no information about a specific degree or field of study.
