Rachel Real Poovey currently serves as the Assistant Superintendent for Student Support Services at Trussville City Schools, a position held since July 2021. Prior to this role, Rachel accumulated extensive experience at Decatur City Schools from August 1995 to July 2021, where responsibilities included serving as Coordinator of Developmental Programs, Principal at Decatur Middle School, Elementary Curriculum Supervisor, Principal, Assistant Principal, and Special Education Teacher. Rachel holds a Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) in Educational Leadership and Administration from The University of Alabama, as well as degrees including an Educational Specialist and a Master’s Degree from the University of Alabama at Birmingham, along with a Bachelor’s Degree in Education/Teaching of Individuals with Multiple Disabilities.
