Stephen Bourdeau has extensive work experience in various technical and managerial roles. Stephen started their career as a Software Engineer at Mangosoft, Inc. in 1997. After that, they worked as a Summer Intern at Allmerica Financial in 2001.
In 2004, they joined OpenPages, Inc. as a Senior Software Engineer, where they played a key role in feature design and implementation, bug fixing, and code reviewing. Stephen also introduced the Dojo toolkit to provide Web 2.0 functionality.
In 2008, Stephen joined TripAdvisor as a Software Engineer and gradually moved up the ranks. Stephen served as a Senior Software Engineer, where they worked on TripAdvisor's first mobile website and helped increase mobile traffic significantly. Stephen also redesigned the tablet app.
Stephen then transitioned into management roles at TripAdvisor. Stephen managed teams responsible for the development of mobile and tablet apps, including the successful redesign of the Tablet App and the launch of the Desktop website's "Instant Booking" functionality.
In 2015, Stephen shifted to a technical leadership role and played a vital role in architecting and building the first microservices at TripAdvisor. Stephen later served as a Principal Software Engineer and Technical Manager, leading teams and driving technical improvements and user experience consistency across different products.
Since 2019, Stephen has been working as a Technical Manager on the Web Platform, Globalization team at TripAdvisor, where they bootstrapped a new team to re-architect and modernize TripAdvisor's web development. Stephen is currently serving as the Director of Engineering, Platforms, where they are driving organizational change towards a domain decomposed, hybrid cloud, SRE style ecosystem and culture.
Outside of their work at TripAdvisor, Stephen also owned a company called Snazzy Software, LLC, where they developed mobile and tablet apps for iOS, Android, and HP webOS.
