David Shapiro

VP & Chief Medical Officer, Hartford Market at Trinity Health of New England

David Shapiro is the current VP & Chief Medical Officer of Hartford Market at Trinity Health of New England. David has also previously worked as the owner/wrangler of herd restaurant (aka, herdonmain), as well as the medical co-director of New England Donor Services. David has also served as the president of the Northeast Chapter of the Society of Critical Care Medicine, and as the Chief Medical Officer of Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center.

David Shapiro has a Master's Degree in Health/Health Care Administration/Management from Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, a Fellowship in Surgical Critical Care & Trauma from Oregon Health & Science University, and a Doctor of Medicine (MD) in Medicine & Surgery from The University of Connecticut Health Center. David also has a Graduate degree in Biochemistry/MCB from University of Connecticut and a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Biochemistry & Social Anthropology from Boston College. Additionally, they have certification from American Board of Surgery in Surgery, American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS) in Hospice & Palliative Care Medicine, American Board of Surgery in Board of Certification in Surgery, American Board of Surgery in Board Certification in Surgical Critical Care, American College of Surgeons in ATLS, and American Board of Surgery and American Board of Medical Specialties in Board Certified by ABS in Surgery and Surgical Critical Care, and by ABMS in Hospice & Palliative Care Medicine.

David Shapiro reports to Thomas Burke, President, Hartford Market. They work with Vernette Townsend - VP, & Chief Nursing Officer, Gerald Galipeau - Executive Director, Mission Integration, and Cary Trantalis - VP, Operations.
