April Van Houten has a diverse work experience. April started their career at Thompson's Orchard in 1998 as a Sales Associate and Bakery Associate, where they worked until 2007. From 2007 to 2012, they served as an Administrative Assistant at The Oliver Stores. In 2015, April completed a 15-week student internship at the Maine Special Education/Mental Health Collaborative, working with high school adolescents in a mental health treatment setting. April joined Tri-County Mental Health Services in 2017 as a Health Home Coordinator (Case Manager).
April Van Houten obtained their Bachelor's Degree in Social and Behavioral Sciences from the University of Southern Maine, where they studied from 2015 to 2016. Prior to that, they earned an Associate's Degree in Human Services from Central Maine Community College, where they attended from 2013 to 2015. In addition to their formal education, April also holds several certifications. April obtained the Mental Health Rehabilitation Technician/Community (MHRT/C) certification from the DHHS Office of Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services and Muskie School of Public Service in January 2015. In December 2014, they obtained the Behavioral Health Professional (BHP) certification from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. April also holds a CPR/First Aid Certification from North East Mobile Health Svc, which includes training in Child CPR AED, Infant CPR, and Blood-borne Pathogens.
