Rachel Shoumake

Research Intern at Traverse Project

Rachel Shoumake is a dedicated professional with experience in multiple fields, currently serving as a Research Intern at Traverse Project since March 2024, focusing on combating human trafficking through data intelligence. In addition to this role, Rachel has been a Floral Designer at Blackberry Farms since November 2021, foraging for seasonal greenery and managing floral arrangements. As a volunteer with Veterans For Child Rescue since August 2020, Rachel spreads awareness about human and child exploitation. Previous veterinary roles include serving as a Licensed Veterinary Technician at Rancho San Diego Animal Hospital and an RVT at Ethos Veterinary Health and Animal Emergency & Specialty Center of Knoxville, where Rachel provided support in high-stress situations. Rachel also contributed as an Ombudsman for the US Navy at Naval Base San Diego, and began career development as a Veterinary Assistant. Educationally, Rachel completed a Bachelor's degree in Homeland Security at the University of Maryland Global Campus and holds an Associate's degree in Applied Sciences from Pima Medical Institute.
