Guido Houben has a diverse work experience in various industries and roles. Guido started their career as a Policy Analyst & Speechwriter at Deutscher Bundestag from 1998 to 2002. Guido then moved on to become the Executive Director of The Bach Festival of Philadelphia, where they managed turnaround and debt reduction, and developed programs with renowned artists and scholars.
Houben then worked as the Administrative Director at Sinfonietta de Lausanne, where they managed the financial and administrative aspects of the concert seasons and tours. Guido introduced electronic ticketing and a symphonic concert subscription series.
At the Verbier Festival, Houben was responsible for finance and human resources as the Director Of Finance & Human Resources. Guido oversaw a budget of 9 million CHF, managed payroll, recruitment, and logistics for over 100 staff. Guido also handled project management for IT needs and the festival's archives.
Houben worked as a Project Supervisor at SRG SSR, where they developed a national digital age music production strategy and conducted feasability studies for audio/video archives and platforms. Guido also managed a production project and conducted a study on the transition of radio ensembles.
As the Director General of Megève Festival Savoy Truffle, Houben founded and managed a creative concept festival that combined international top acts with regional artists and amateur ensembles, with a special focus on women and contemporary music.
Currently, Houben is the Director of Administration at Transmutex, an organization that works on breakthrough technologies for carbon-free and safe energy from Thorium. Their technology utilizes subcritical accelerator-driven systems and can be used for energy production as well as the transmutation of nuclear waste.

Guido Houben has a comprehensive education history that spans several years and institutions. Starting in 1982, they attended Eduard-Spranger-Gymnasium Landau in der Pfalz, where they completed their secondary education. Following this, from 1991 to 1998, Houben pursued a Master's degree at the University of Mannheim, specializing in Composition, Organ, Russian Area Studies, and Political Science. Afterward, they continued their academic journey at Freie Universität Berlin, where they pursued a Ph.D. in Political Science, graduating in 2003. Houben then attended Harvard University from 2002 to 2004, where they obtained a Master's in Public Administration (MPA). Their educational pursuits did not end there, as they recently attended the CFO Programme at London Business School in 2021 to further enhance their financial knowledge.
