Vernon Hurte, Ph.D., currently serves as the Senior Vice President for Student Affairs & University Life at Towson University, a position held since February 2020, after previously holding the Vice President of Student Affairs role at Iowa State University from July 2017 to February 2020. Dr. Hurte has extensive experience in student affairs, including serving as Associate Vice President and Dean of Students at Iowa State University and as Assistant to the Vice President & Senior Associate Dean of Students at William & Mary for over 13 years. In addition to leadership roles, Vernon Hurte has provided strategic oversight across various student support services and educational programs, particularly focusing on academic success and diversity initiatives. Dr. Hurte is also a Senior Pastor at New Light Baptist Church and has advanced degrees in Educational Psychology, Pastoral Care, and Psychology.
