Barnes Sutton, AICP, CFM, CSM, serves as the Economic & Community Development Director for the Town of Leland since November 2021, where responsibilities include directing economic and community development initiatives and fostering relationships with various stakeholders. Prior roles include Community Development Planner, focusing on urban and municipal planning projects, and Town Planner for the Town of Navassa, where duties encompassed comprehensive planning and urban design. With experience as a Planner I in Pender County and various roles in community development, Barnes Sutton has a solid foundation in land development, planning compliance, and public outreach. Academic qualifications include a Master’s Degree in Public Administration and Bachelor's Degrees in Economics and Political Science from the University of North Carolina Wilmington.
