Marian Verhelst is a qualified academic with extensive experience in the field of electrical engineering and micro-electronics, currently serving as a Professor at MICAS (KU Leuven) since October 2012, where the focus is on smart, self-adaptive system architectures and circuits for ubiquitous sensing and computing, particularly in embedded machine learning. As a board member of the tinyML Foundation and a scientific advisor for Axelera AI, Marian contributes to advancements in machine learning. Additionally, as the Scientific Director at imec, strategic advice is provided on scientific initiatives related to machine learning. Previous roles include membership in the Jonge Academie and board membership in the STEM Platform, alongside practical experience as a post-doctoral researcher and research scientist in various esteemed organizations.
