David Knauer has a diverse work experience spanning several roles and industries. David currently works at Timmons Group as a Geographic Information Systems Analyst. Prior to this, they worked at ZEPHYRx as a Shipping Specialist. Knauer also has experience as a GIS Data Management Intern at Walkspan Inc, where they conducted research, collected data, and developed pedestrian transportation infrastructure datasets. David has also worked as a Hydrologic Technician at the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), producing GIS maps and presenting spatial data for water science reports. Additionally, they interned as a GIS Waste Management Intern at the NYS Department of Environmental Conservation, where they utilized GIS mapping software for environmental planning projects. Knauer began their career as a Water Quality Maintenance Technician at Colonial Acres Association, where they independently maintained the operation of a public pool.
David Knauer has a diverse education history in geospatial information sciences and geological and earth sciences. David obtained a Master of Science (MS) degree in Geospatial Information Sciences from the University of Maryland, which they pursued from 2021 to 2022. Prior to that, in 2021, they completed a Graduate Certificate in GIS from the same university. In 2012, David earned a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Geological and Earth Sciences/Geosciences from SUNY New Paltz.
To further enhance their knowledge and skills in geographic information science and cartography, David pursued additional certifications. In 2020 to 2021, they completed a Certificate in Geographic Information Science and Cartography through Coursera offered by the University of California, Davis. In 2017, they also participated in training at the Esri Academy.
Before their college education, David attended Bethlehem Central High School and obtained an Advanced Regents Diploma in 2012.
David has acquired a couple of additional certifications to supplement their education. In 2021, they completed the Coursera courses "Fundamentals of GIS" and "GIS Data Formats, Design and Quality." Additionally, in 2015, they achieved intermediate fluency in Spanish through the Duolingo Spanish Fluency program.
