Vumasande Makasi is an experienced professional in the mining engineering sector, currently serving as a Shift Overseer at Thungela since December 2022. Vumasande's prior experience includes a Graduate in Training position at Anglo American from January 2020 to November 2022 and contributions as Deputy Chairperson of the Mining Engineering School Council and Tutor for third-year mining engineering students at the University of the Witwatersrand between February 2019 and January 2020. Vumasande also completed a Vacation Student role at Anglo American Coal South Africa, focusing on drilling and blasting quality improvements in late 2018, and undertook vacation work at Murray & Roberts Cementation in early 2018. Vumasande earned a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Engineering from the University of the Witwatersrand and completed high school at St. John's College, Umtatha.
