Mehmet Doktan is a highly experienced mining professional with a robust background in strategic mine planning and resource development. Currently serving as the Strategic Mine Planning Manager at Thiess Australian Mining since February 2012, Mehmet has previously held significant positions such as Principal Mining Engineer at Anglo American and Senior Mining Engineer at BMA Coal, where expertise included LOA planning, scheduling, and mine design. Additionally, experience as a Senior Research Fellow and Lecturer at the University of Queensland, along with consulting at Runge Mining, underscores a strong foundation in both academia and practical applications of mining engineering. Mehmet holds a Ph.D. in Rock Mechanics and Mining Engineering from Newcastle University and a Bachelor’s Degree in Mining and Mineral Engineering from Hacettepe University.
